Badges & Patches
The current department-issue
shoulder patch. Its design was
taken from the old SPD patch,
which was changed in 2000.
The "Monument Patch" is worn on all
Department uniform shirts and jackets.
The Patch was also worn by the SPD on
the left shoulder until the mid-1980's,
when it was discontinued.
The Current issued breast badges.
Manufactured by the Ga-Rel Company,
they feature the full color city seal. The
newer Department badges have the
"AUX" moved from the bottom panel to
the area below the rank panel.
Uniform Collar pins (AKA "Seals")
Back in the day.....
Another older department-issue
badge. It has no hallmark, but it looks
like its a Blackinton badge.
A very nice old badge with the old city
seal applied in the center. There is no
enamel on the shield. Another
Blackinton badge.
This badge is a stamped badge with
the old State seal that was worn until
the late 1960's or early 1970's.
Manufacturer is currently unknown. This
this time period.
Another rare badge features the
current state seal with an
enameled border. Badge is
actually flat and shows its age.
This was last issued in 2006.
Unknown manufacture, however it
does not appear to be a Blackinton.
This old style badge has the old style
city seal stamped and applied with no
color enamel. At this time, it is
unknown what time period the SAPD
wore these badges. Manufacturer is
currently unknown.
An old Department patch with a
cheese cloth backing, which was
common for the time period which it
was worn.
A very old badge, perhaps the first or second
badge style issued to the department. There
were only an handful of these as the
department at the time was about four or five
officers.
