December 23rd: The Members of the SAPD extend our deepest thoughts and condolences to SPD Officer
Robert Vozella and SPD Sergeant John Vozella and their families on the sudden passing in their father
Charles Vozella. Mr Vozella was a former Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Police Officer and
Massachusetts State Trooper.
      




December 3rd: Members are advised that firearms requalifications will be held on Friday, December 14th.
Members are to be at the range in Harvard at 0900 hours. Car pooling is recommended. Those who will
need transportation are to be at the station no later than 0730 hours. Contact Captain Hillis with any
questions.



November 30th: The SAPD welcomes its newest members: Officers Patrick O'Connor and Armin Dzanic.


                              
October 21st: To all SAPD Applicants: Since our offices have recently changed, we have been having phone
line issues. At this time we are unable to check any messages left for us. We are working with the City to
get this corrected ASAP. If you have an application pending, we urge you to stop by the station any Tuesday
evening and see a recruiter.


October 5: The SAPD welcomes it's newest members: John Watts, Nathan Kerbel, Timothy Van Nostrand and Leandro Rodriguez.









October 2nd: The members of the SAPD extend our deepest thoughts and condolences to the friends,
family and fellow officers of Revere, MA Police Officer Daniel Talbot. Officer Talbot, a member of the
Revere Police Gang Unit, was shot and killed while off duty on September 29th. Officer Talbot was a
5-year veteran of the force and is survived by his Parents and Fiancé  


July 16th: The SAPD has officially moved into our new offices. We are now located in the back office, which is accessed through
the lobby. Instead of the first door on the left, its the second door on the left. Our recruiting office will be the first office on the left,
with the administrative offices now located at the end of the hall next to the Superior Officers Association office. See Lt.
Biddiscombe for new keys.


May 25th: The SAPD has announced the date of the Annual Appreciation cruise. It has been set for June 22nd, and will once
again be held on the Horizons Edge Casino boat. Additional details will be posted when they become available.


May 1st: The SAPD welcomes its newest members: Joseph Dicicco and William Marshall.











April 25th: Officer Jovannie Morales has been placed on leave from the SAPD. He has been activated and
will be serving in Iraq with the US Army. We wish him all the best for a safe and quick deployment! The SAPD
currently has 3 members who have either resigned or are currently on leave to serve overseas in the
United States Armed Forces.


April 24th: The SAPD chat forums have been revised. Squad Sergeants have their own forum,
which is restricted to them and the Administrative staff. Please note that the forums are not open
to the public! As always, SPD members are welcome to register and view the forums. To register,

April 1st: The Departments end of year report is now completed. The SAPD volunteered a grand
total of 7,418 hours for 2006! Congrats to all members on an excellent year! Also as a reminder,
the Annual Awards night is scheduled for April 17th. Members are reminded to be in full uniform
(I am assuming short sleeve shirts are to be worn). Any problems or question, contact your Division Lieutenant.











March 14th: The members of the SAPD extend our thoughts and condolences to the members of
the New York City Auxiliary Police Department on the line-of-duty deaths of Auxiliary Police
Officers Nicholas Pekearo, 28, and Eugene Marshalik, 19, both of the 6th Precinct. Both Officers
were shot and killed by a lone gunman who was fleeing the scene of a shooting he had just done
at a bar in the Greenwich Village area of New York City. The gunman was later shot and killed by
regular NYPD Officers who raced to the scene and came upon the suspect.


March 10th: The SAPD Chat forums are up and running! When registering, you must use you
first initial and last name as a user name. There are still a few bugs being worked out, but all in
all it's good to go. The link is at the top of  the home page. Members wishing to register must
email Lt. Biddiscombe with your request. You cannot register directly on the forums, as the
email response feature has been disabled.


March 5th: There will be a road race of March 18th. Lt. Davis is running it, and he requests all
personnel at the station no later than 0900 hours. Contact him with any questions or issues.  


February 10th: The SAPD welcomes our newest member, David Dean.


January 17th: Any member needing an updated department ID should contact Lt. Biddiscombe
ASAP to have an updated one printed. Officers needing a new ID must set up an appointment with
SPD Sgt. Rooney to have one made.












January 10th: The Members of the SAPD extend our thoughts and condolences to the family,
friends and fellow Officers of Medford, MA Police Officer Patrick T. Fahey, who passed away
suddenly on January 3rd. Officer Fahey was the Departments D.A.R.E. Officer, and was named the
2005 D.A.R.E. Officer of the year. He previously served with the Medford Park Police and Special
Police before joining the MPD in 1997. He was 40 years old and is survived by his wife, parents
and siblings.


January 7th: The members of the SAPD extend out deepest thoughts and condolences to
Winthrop Aux. Police Chief Robert Sanborn on the recent passing of his wife.


January 6th: Lt. Biddiscombe is in the process of calculating the hours for 2006, and will also be
completing the End of Year report. Contact him with any questions or suggestions.
