December 1st: The SAPD has been issued a new department cruiser to replace the aging 2000, that has been in service
for several years. The current model is a fully marked 2005 Crown Victoria, which previously saw service as a front line
cruiser for the SPD. Sergeants are to see the Chief or the Administrative staff ASAP to get your new cruiser key, and to
turn in the old ones.

November 28th: The members of the SAPD would like to thank Bill Bryant and the members of the Somerville Road
Runners. Today, they donated a large amount of customized traffic control signs to our department. The hi-visibility
signs are used to warn vehicular traffic to detours and road closing due to road races and other events. Many thanks to
Bill and the Somerville Road Runners!

November 22nd: Lt. Biddiscombe has finished the complete revision of the Rules and Regulations Manual used by the
Department. It will now go to the Administrative staff for consideration and approval. Should any member have
suggestions on revisions, let me know. The updated manual will most likely not be available for several weeks. The
current version, published in 1997, is still valid.


November 21, 2006: All SAPD Officers attending the Thanksgiving parade on Thursday are reminded to be at the station
no later than 0730 hours. Sgt. Breaker is in charge of the event. He is to be contacted with any questions regarding this
detail.


November 5th: The SAPD welcomes its newest members: Sean Collier, David Wolfman and William Eldridge. These
Officers will now start their probationary period, and have been assigned to their squads.


October 14th: All armed SAPD Personnel are reminded that firearm re-qualifications are being held on Friday October
20th in Harvard. Everyone is report to the station no later than 0730 hours. If for any reason you cannot attend, you must
contact your Division Commander immediately!


August 9th, 2006: The SAPD webmaster is looking for former SAPD Officers who currently serve in Law Enforcement to
take part in a new feature for the SAPD website. Also, I am looking for old pictures showing the SAPD. They can be of old
cruisers, meetings, training, etc to be added to our "looking back" page. If you can help in any way, please email Lt. Glen
Biddiscombe


June 25th, 2006: A reminded to all SAPD personnel that the 4th of July celebration will be held on June 29th at Trum
Field. Please contact the administrative staff if you are unavailable to attend.


June 23rd, 2006: The Annual appreciation party for the SAPD (this year held on the Horizons Edge Casino cruise) was a
great time. Thanks to all who attended! Special thanks to Lt. Ring for planning the trip, and to Mayor Curtatone for
making it happen. If any member of the SAPD has pictures from the cruise you would like to have added to the site,
contact Lt. Biddiscombe.


May 28th, 2006: The SAPD would like to thank the members of the Winthrop Aux. Police and the Waltham Aux. Police
for their assistance in making the 2006 Memorial Day Parade in Somerville a Success. Pictures of the event are available
in the gallery.


May 26th, 2006: All Department personnel (and outside agencies) are reminded that you must be at the station no later
than 0800 hours for the Memorial Day Parade on Sunday. Lt. Davis has arranged for coffee and breakfast items to be
delivered to the station. Any questions contact the administrative staff.


May 24th, 2006: During the SAPD's annual awards ceremony at Police Headquarters, the latest promotions were
announced. They are as follows:

-Captain Emmanuel DeMatos, promoted to Deputy Chief of Department
-Lieutenant Jason Hillis promoted to Captain / Patrol Commander
-Sergeant Glen Biddiscombe promoted to Lieutenant
-Sergeant Mark Davis Promoted to Lieutenant
-Officer Kevin Medeiros promoted to Sergeant
-Officer Fritz Mompoint promoted to Sergeant
-Officer David Goldberg promoted to Sergeant
-Officer Frank Kyper promoted to Sergeant.

In addition to the promotions, Chief of Department Jerry Carvalho was presented with an award recognizing his 30 years
of continued, dedicated service to the SAPD. Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone also presented the Chief with a citation
on behalf of the Citizens of Somerville. Please see the photo's section for pictures of tonights events.


May 21st, 2006: Congratulations to Officer Kevin Medeiros, Officer Melissa O'Hearn and Officer Frank Kyper on recently
graduating from NERPI.


May 10th, 2006: All Personnel are reminded that the Departments Annual Awards Night has been moved from Tuesday
May 23rd to Wednesday May 24th at 1930 hours. This was done to accommodate the 6 Officers currently in the academy.
Any questions should be directed to your Squad Sergeant.


May 1st, 2006: The SAPD welcomes its newest officers, Edward Detmer and Roger Desrochers.

February 21st, 2006: The SAPD welcomes its newest Officer, Jovannie Morales.











January 31, 2006: After 25+ years of service, Deputy Chief Henry Wagner has retired from the Somerville Auxiliary
Police Department. Deputy Wagner was hired on September 26th, 1980, and worked his way up the ranks, and at one
time served as the Chief of Department. His dedication and loyalty to the department is unquestioned. On behalf of the
entire SAPD, we extend our many thanks to the Deputy, and send him our very best wishes for the future.
